Its a tough one to guess accurately but if everything goes normal then i probably know whats gonna happenNovak Djokovic has had a tremendous year. Still not over yet, ATP World tour finals are still to come. A player who always used to consider himself one step below the two cantankerous giants of tennis i.e Federer and Nadal, is now hovering over them. Was it all Djokovic or did Nadal and Federer got relaxed and let him take away the glory ? No , they did not loosened themselves but they certainly didn't prepared well enough against the top new form of Djokovic.
One thing for sure --- changes don't appear overnight and changes this BIG certainly require a massive amount of hard work and determination. If I compare new Novak with the old one , i see a person who believes in himself , one who believes can beat anybody on the tour. He is able to adopt the style of game which suits each and every surface. He may be the complete player the tennis has ever seen. But because tennis evolves everyday , therefore no one is complete always.
I don't see the reason why Novak would step down in the rankings in 2012. I don't want him to continue topping as I am a Rafa fan, but while i am writing i have to be honest. Using full energy and playing top class tennis only when required and preserving maximum energy for the coming matches reflect the way how great players play. I mean whats the point in howling when you are leading 6-1,5-2 and up 40-0 and you lose a point and scoreboard shows 40-15. Each and every aspect discussed above matters a lot. NOW, i must say that its Rafa, Roger and Murray's turn to improve themselves otherwise it may be too late. One thing that all players must remember is that progress waits for no one , and once you think you have gained much is the point where your decline starts, so keep moving forward to stay at top. Practice alone is not enough but practice with a goal is what is mandatory.I wish all the players a better 2012.
